sankofa the musical

Sankofa is the story of Ghana’s independence movement and first years as a nation told through a girl who was born there but not really from there. After being brought up in Britain by her adoptive, missionary parents, Matilda returns to Ghana longing to find her place where she belongs.

Fusing Afrobeats with the classical musical theatre format, Sankofa is about a girl and a country ultimately discovering themselves.

This Ghanaian new musical is set to take the world of musical theatre by storm. In addition, Sankofa introduces Ghana to a new entertainment form that captures the unique essence of the country.
